ORBIT

28.5″ BARITONE GUITAR

FREELY MOVABLE &
INTERCHANGEABLE PICKUPs
AUDIBLE BODY RESONANCE
UP TO TWO CONTROL KNOBS

ORBIT BETWEEN BASS AND GUITAR

Due to its long scale of 28.5″ / 720mm this baritone guitar features an precise and gritty bass response in standard B to B or A to A tunings. The added length brings a distinctive warmth and accuracy to the upper strings rounded off with lots of sustain. Due to the steel body the freely movable pickups catch up audible body resonance that adds natural harmonics and a wooden character. A richness that goes beyond the usual tone of a electric baritone. That being said the natural microphonic effect is less pronounced than on Cosmo wich makes it even more suitable to distorted sounds.

Pickups

The core feature of the instrument is the possibility to move its pickup(s) where you want it/them to be. Be it tilted, shifted sideways, or completely away from the strings – there are no limits.
In the tradition of Cosmo and Gravis, Orbit is compatible to all my six pickup models. The baritone guitar comes with two input jacks for up to two pickups and an output switchable from mono to dual-mono (TRS)

CONTROLS

Orbit is available with no control knobs or you can choose Volume and Tone or A/B Blend whichever is your preference.
A purists choice is the single pickup – no control knob model.
This bare-bones instrument inspires the player due to its very simplicity.
If you prefer tweaking your sound on the fly, either option, Volume and Tone knobs or A/B Blend knobs together with variable pickup placement offer you limitless timbres to explore.

COLORS

The sheet metal is powder coated in RAL colors with a glossy surface in industrial quality. The thick coating is tougher than a painted surface and therefore does not flake off immediately, even with strong impacts.

The color representation of the following pictures varies depending on the monitor used – therefore a RAL color fan is recommended.

TYPES OF WOOD

I am convinced that native tone woods are in no way inferior to tropical woods and, for sustainable reasons, I only use native timbers. Three types of wood are always available: ash, maple and walnut. Also cherry, pear, apple, plum or oak can be realized on request. Since every tree and thus every wood is unique, we will discuss the details, such as grain structure and fiber course, in the building process. The wood is carefully selected and stored for years. The veneer of the headstock, the fingerboard, the neck as well as the pickups and the bridge are all made from the same piece.

Simple but detailed

The neck appears simple, but is designed with great attention to detail: the reversed headstock has a deep drop from the nut and is angled with 5°. Because of that there are no string trees needed and tuning stability is increased. It is equipped with jumbo frets, which are carefully rounded or hemispherical at the fret ends, Schaller M6 machine heads, a bone nut with inserted steel dowel pin (also available in Tusq/vegan), an dual action truss rod, a solid brass bridge with three riders intonated for baritone strings – just to name a few features. The steel body is connected to the neck with only one screw and is locked in precisely and without any play.

Mono bags

The Mono Sleeve bag is the right companion for Orbit, not only because of its clean look: Its patented head locking system protects the instrument from impacts and drops. The top-loading system allows quick access and the comfortable padding allows you to carry the bag for hours, while magnetic quick-release sternum straps provide additional support by relieving pressure on your shoulders.
