The answer to most important question: Yes, Cosmo sounds like a solidbody guitar should sound. Its sound is rich in overtones with the right amount of pressure and warmth, and it doesn’t sound “tinny” at all in the trebles. The neck through construction and the massive brass riders of the bridge give Cosmo the typical twang and power of an electric guitar with a massive body. The long neck creates a sustain similar to an archtop guitar. Because of the sheet metal, body resonance is now audible wich adds nice acoustic like overtones. The individual timbre depends on the pickup used and its position. In addition, the bent sheet metal body of the electric guitar serves as a very effective grounding and shielding – placing the arm on the body has the same noise-reducing effect as touching the strings.
MADE IN GERMANY
From the neck to the sheet metal body to every single pickup – everything is made by Robin Stummvoll in its workshop in Kassel in the centre of Germany. The laser cutting and powder coating of the sheet metal is done by local craftsmen; The used tone wood is grown in Germany. I use Schaller M6 mini tuning mechanics and recommend vegetable-tanned Richter guitar straps because of their quality and simplicity.

The sheet metal is carefully rounded at all points of contact with the body. It can be played comfortably in all sitting and standing positions. The large armrest with a radius of 6 cm (2 3/8″) is a charm. The slightly springy body nestles against you and heats up faster than the inert mass of a solid wood body. Cosmo weighs only about 2.5 kg and can be played for hours without back pain.
Simple but detailed
The neck appears simple, but is designed with great attention to detail: Its shape follows the fingerboard with conical radius (compound radius) to the characteristic asymmetrical headstock. It is equipped with jumbo frets, which are carefully rounded or hemispherical at the fret ends, Schaller machine heads, a bone nut with inserted steel dowel pin (also in Tusq/vegan), an oversized 62 cm long dual action truss rod, a solid brass bridge and three different neck profiles – just to name a few features. The steel body is connected to the neck with only one screw and is locked in precisely and without any play.
